Please call 911 immediately if you are having chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, sudden weakness or numbness, or if you think you have a medical emergency. Black Widow Spider Bite Treatment Self-Care at Home - Seek immediate emergency medical treatment.
- Wrap ice in a washcloth or similiar material and place it on the bite area.
- Leave it on for 10 minutes and then off for 10 minutes.
- Repeat this process.
Medical Treatment - If possible bring the spider to the emergency room.
- Knowing the time of the bite and the location of the bite is helpful.
- The type of treatment will depend on the symptoms.
- Pain medication, muscle relaxants, and drugs to lower blood pressure may be needed.
- Antivenin is only given in severe cases as severe allergic reactions can occur.
